Follow FAST Swim Program guidelines and lesson plans as established (see beginning of each level for the activity outlines with correct progression of activities).
Develop water safety knowledge through a guided pool walk around.
Teach participants to ask permission from the caregiver to enter a pool or any body of water.
Ensure equal opportunity for all children and adults.
Allow for clothing attire that is respectful of all nationalities while addressing safety features which may impede movement.
Treat all swimmers and guardians with respect.
Demonstrate genuine concern by greeting parent/caregivers and participants by making eye contact and positive body language.
Maintain proper First Aid and CPR training.
Secure and maintain proper insurance coverage if not covered by facility insurance.
Ask permission before physically touching a participant.
Endorse the AAP (American for Pediatrics) guidelines for Water Safety supervision. These guidelines are:
a. Never leave a child alone in or near bodies of water.
b. Provide arms length or touch supervision.
c. Use approved life jackets.
Wear appropriate and professional swim attire.
